pickI understand why so many readers hate this book, but I really liked it. I loved the gorgeous, sensual descriptions of food & wine. I found it so nostalgic (I worked in a restaurant/wine bar in London for all of my 20s) & I think Danler perfectly captures the experience of the formed ‘family‘, the excesses and lack of self-awareness of youth, the loneliness of big cities, and the obsessions and self-discoveries and mistakes we make as we grow up.
