Didn't like it as much as the first one, but it was still a lot of fun. I'm rather into fun, fast-paced reads lately, instead of the boring DNFs I've been slogging through.

My only DNF. Baby E took out my bookmark and I was more relieved than mad.

This book was readable but pointless. Geared more towards YA might explain the weak storyline. A young girl hears voices telling her to kill people but for the most part everyone she kills is bad. She‘s kind of like a female Dexter. Anyway glad this was a Lending Library Freebie otherwise I never would have picked it up.

Here are the retellings I'm hoping to tackle this month for the #JaneAustenThenAndNow read: spicy S&S in a beach town, an S&S murder mystery, a polarizing modern version, and three YA takes because dang it, I love YA. Authors Rosie Rushton and Staci Hart have adapted all of Austen's novels, and while I've read Rushton's before, Hart's are new to me. We'll see how this goes...! Anyone else out there looking for some S&S-adjacent reads for February?

eeclayton I've read the Trollope, I'll be curious to see what you think. This month, I'm going to try 4d
Bookwormjillk I‘m going to read the Trollope. I read it when it first came out but I want to read it again. 4d

Andrea313 @eeclayton @Bookwormjillk Did you like the Trollope? Reviews online are mixed so I'm not sure what to expect! And I definitely want to hear @eeclayton 's thoughts on Jane of Austin! I'm curious about it, but too many books and too little time... 4d
bookandbedandtea These all look good! I have one overlap on my list. 4d
Andrea313 @bookandbedandtea Which one will we both be reading? 4d
Crinoline_Laphroaig Oooh. I like this list. Also think S&S lends itself to YA. 4d
Andrea313 @Crinoline_Laphroaig Yes, definitely! A roadmap for "coming of age" stories. 4d
Andrea313 @bookandbedandtea I'm starting it today! Hope we both enjoy. 🧡🧡 4d
eeclayton @Andrea313 I didn't like the Trollope, but I hope it'll work better for you! 3d
Bookwormjillk @Andrea313 I was meh about the Trollope, but I didn‘t read them back to back. I‘m thinking having the original top of mind will improve it. 3d

A few years ago a simple conversation over a shared favorite author became a 6/year book club and I couldn't be more thankful for the deep friendships and community we have built. I got to host last night and my Forever Friends were over for 5 hours, leaving at 11pm. I know it's different for business and library book clubs, but for those that meet in homes how long do your discussions last? (P.S. this includes a carry-in supper)

CrowCAH Me and my Bookclub peeps @VioletCavalier @hkapusta @WonderingGypsy @CKBrooke just had an in house discussion which lasted five hours, with a potluck dinner! Typically we meet at a restaurant or have an activity, so it‘s more 2-3 hours in length. 4d

Reread (2012, 2025)
I love all the Forever Friends, but Katie is my favorite. She grows up so much in this, her own series, while also remaining her authentic self.

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with RL Stine's Fear Street books. I'm happy to finally start building my Fear Street collection. Here is what I've been able to find so far second hand. 😀

TieDyeDude Love it! 1w
Andrea313 Blast from the past! I see some of my favorites - Silent Night, the Fear Street Saga... This is fantastic. 😂 1w
InkedBookworm13 @Andrea313 The Silent Night Series and the Cheerleaders Series were my favorites 😍 1w
Andrea313 @InkedBookworm13 I loved those ones! And while I don't think they were technically part of the Fear Street series, I loved all of the Babysitter books, too. 1w

Mia, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Parking meters, really?????

This was a bit whiny, so it is totally believable. Lilly saying that the made for TV movie made her look like a bad friend. LOOK IN THE MIRROR, SISTER.
But honestly, Lilly was much better and way more supportive. Especially when it came to her best friend and her brother. That was really nice.

This one really fell flat for me.

The plot was a cut and past of the previous books in the series with only a slight variation in the exact location of where things went down. The characters have had no growth throughout the series and it‘s made extremely clear in this one. I wouldn‘t continue and read the last book in this series but as I own it and Specials was supposed to be the last in the series I do plan to read on and see what Extras adds.

This wasn't perfect and showed its age, especially with some of the throw away comments. But it was a fun, fast paced read. I loved Meg Cabots' books in high school and they are still fun now, especially how she takes scenarios like psychic powers or being a medium that happens to regular teenagers.
