Ok, to be fair, I did not understand most of this book. The thing is, I‘m not sure who would. It‘s not purely religious/biblical scholarship, as it pulls in a lot of rabbinical sources, but it‘s not entirely literary criticism either. Bloom can be very hard to read, but not always, but this one was extra tough. 🤷🏻‍♀️
#bookspin done, at least. Not keeping this one, so there‘s some shelf space free.

TheBookHippie I agree sometimes he is really hard to read! I wondered about this one. 4y
TheAromaofBooks I was curious so I read the synopsis of this one... is he basically trying to make a point that Christianity isn't actually rooted in Judaism...?? 4y
ravenlee @TheAromaofBooks yes? He says (frequently) that the Old Testament is basically a hijacking of the Torah, but also that the introduction of Jesus as Christ alters Yahweh of the early days into God-the-Father, who fades into the background as Jesus takes center stage. I think. There‘s a lot of repetition and a lot of jargon I didn‘t really follow, but I think that‘s part of it. 4y

ravenlee Also, differences between Hebrew influence and Hellenistic...and some other stuff I didn‘t understand. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Hmmm. It's never a good sign when someone reads an author's book & can't actually summarize what he was trying to say! 😂 Sounds like he wasn't as focused as he needed to be or something! 4y
ravenlee @TheAromaofBooks exactly. The Jesus section talked a lot about Yahweh and the Yahweh section talked a lot about Jesus; and there were no endnotes or bibliography or anything! 4y

Here‘s my #bookspinbingo board! I‘ll write it out later today so I don‘t have to step over it for a month 😆. Tagged is my #bookspin - and since it‘s been on my list for months I suppose it‘s time. #doublespin is The Little Prince, which I have no excuse for never having read.
Thank you Sarah! @TheAromaofBooks You‘re amazing as always.

CaffeineAndCandy ❤❤❤ ᴊᴇsᴜs 4y
ravenlee @CaffeineAndCandy it‘s not that kind of book, and I‘m not Christian. 4y

Pickpick

This first book in the #ChroniclesoftheKings series is an easy and #engaging read. It centered around the life of Prince #Hezekiah during the time when the nation has turned away from #Yahweh and worshipped the pagan god #Molech instead. I enjoyed the author's writing style although the dialogue can sound too modern. Overall, it's a #goodread and I'm starting on book 2 soon. #historicalfiction #biblicalcharacters #ancienthistory
