10/100 Its hard to find a better, more informed writer, when it comes to English History, than Dan Jones. This makes a good companion book to his recent Henry V. Picking up with the disastrous reign of Henry VI, it follow through with various Henrys and Edwards, as different families fought for the crown, ending with the Tudors of Henry VIII. Very informative and entertaining. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

Not my cup of tea. While this was an original idea for a mystery novel, it was a bit of a slog to get through. Given that there's really no mystery (Tey was pretty upfront on finding Richard III not guilty), the book has no action. It's really an academic discussion about one king's history and reputation.

Another book #OffMyShelf 🎉 Plus, I‘m making excellent progress on my chunkster & have read at least 100 pages every day this month.

Ruthiella I loved this book! 😂 I felt like it was a sort of cerebral Rear Window. 2mo
wanderinglynn @Ruthiella ah, it was kind of like that, except sadly without Jimmy Stewart. 2mo
CarolynM You‘re right that nothing happens, yet, like @Ruthiella , I loved it. 2mo
rubyslippersreads @Ruthiella @CarolynM I love it too. It‘s the book that made me a Ricardian. 2mo

I'm giving up on the goal of reading all 19 of these already on book 2 😂 There are just so many Georges and Edwards and Elizabeths, I cannot keep them all straight and it is just so boring, I am out.

I liked this, but I think it would probably be more enjoyable to people with a deeper knowledge of British history.

On a lark I've decided to read all 19 of the Plantagenet and Tudor novel series. This first one is a pretty soft pick for me, the characters don't resonate well and the plot confusing (they're in France, they're in England, they're back in France who can even keep up or care) but it did feature tarot cards and common witchery so that redeems it somewhat.

The Morbid podcast I listened to earlier about, "The Princes in the Tower," was all I needed as a reminder to dive back into this #historicalfiction series. This book essentially picks up right where I need. The White Queen is the mother of those two missing *cough* [murdered] princes.
