I am back at home. So @rubyslippersreads and @LeahBergen should we start our buddyread? My edition consists of 45 chapters and 363 pages. How should we part it? #thebluecastle

Anyway are the others interested in my other bookish items I bought in Italy? 😍

jewright I love L. M. Montgomery! Do you have a favorite? Mine is Rilla of Ingleside. 6y
RavenLovelyReads Yes! Show us everything! 😍😍 6y

Sarah83 @LeahBergen I am ready aswell. Any ideas about how many chapters or pages to read a week? @rubyslippersreads 6y
LeahBergen I‘ll check the English edition and see if it has the same number of chapters ... 6y
LeahBergen Yep. Mine has 45 chapters, too. Let‘s wait to see when @rubyslippersreads can start. 😀 6y
rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen Mine has 45 chapters too. I can start anytime. 😊 (And @Sarah83 I can‘t wait to see your goodies. 😍 6y
Sarah83 @rubyslippersreads Just look at the next post 😍 6y
Sarah83 @rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen how about 15 chapters a week? 6y
LeahBergen 15 chapters a week sounds good to me. Will we start today and check in with each other again next Wednesday, May15th? @rubyslippersreads 6y
Sarah83 @LeahBergen for me it's a great idea. What do you think @rubyslippersreads ? 6y
Sarah83 @Buechersuechtling this was the Königskinder book I was thinking about 6y
Buechersuechtling @Sarah83 I see but I never heard of it before. My libraries don‘t have it. So I‘m curious what you all will think, so please post frequently, @rubyslippersreads and @LeahBergen ‼️😉 6y
Sarah83 @Buechersuechtling did you know (it seems like) Königskinder is part of Carlsen Verlag... 😮 6y
Buechersuechtling @Sarah83 Yepp, that it‘s part of Carlsen I knew. But it‘s already shut down (since spring 2018, I think) because they obviously didn‘t sell enough books: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlsen_Verlag?wprov=sfti1 6y
Sarah83 @Buechersuechtling oh. I didn't know about it. 😮 6y
LeahBergen @Sarah83 @rubyslippersreads How have the first 15 chapters been for you two? I‘m absolutely loving it! I had a notion that I had read this in my early teen years but I don‘t think I did as it all seems very new to me. I can‘t wait and have already starting reading our next 15 chapters (and I bet I go off schedule and finish this book early 😬). 6y
rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen @Sarah83 I‘m loving it too. 💙 I know I read it at least once years ago, but don‘t remember much at all. I think Valancy‘s mother and the perfectly-named Cousin Stickles are even worse than Aunts Elizabeth and Ruth in the Emily books. 6y
LeahBergen @rubyslippersreads Her family is horrible! I‘m quite surprised at how much more adult (in tone and subject matter) this one is in comparison to everything else I‘ve read of hers. I‘m on chapter 30. 😆😆 6y
rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen I think this and A Tangled Web are her only two novels written for adults. 6y
LeahBergen @rubyslippersreads I think so, too. And I‘m so glad I recently found that copy of A Tangled Web. It‘s a funny thing with me and LM Montgomery - I‘ve never ordered one of her books online. I always challenge myself to find them “in the wild”. 😆 It‘s easier being in Canada, I‘m sure. 6y
rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen You‘re certainly an expert “big game hunter.” 😄 6y

Pickpick

I love Elizabeth, and so I was delighted to find a 1st ed. of a book of hers I hadn't read at a thrift shop.I didn't realize at the time just how lucky I was to find it, as it's been out of print for years and isn't available online, which is a shame as I think it's one of her very best. When Jen's widowed father suddenly remarries, she takes the opportunity to escape to a country cottage, where she meets a shy clergyman and his domineering sister.

lydiabbc Also, it has shades of an absolute top favorite of mine, #TheBlueCastle by #L.M.Montgomery. #ElizabethvonArnim #vintage 7y
