pickMy internet was down for most of the day so I was able to relax and finish this awesome book. But now, it‘s 7:30 and this #teacherofLitsy has a real case of the #sundayscaries as she tried to prepare for tomorrow and the week ahead.
Also, it took me a very long time to figure out that the title of this had anything to do with cooking. 😂

These 25 minutes between when I arrive for my covid screening at school & when in person students arrive for theirs has been crucial for my self care. It gives me a little time to breathe before we get started & I feel frantic all day long between teaching & sanitizing. Overall, I feel pretty safe but it takes a lot of mental & physical energy to remember all the protocols & tech pieces.
Today, when virtual professional development ended early, this #teacherofLitsy headed to the bookstore for a treat! Today was my last chance to go for a while because I‘m not super comfortable going to my small local indie on the weekends because it‘s so popular and it‘s a lot of people.
Kids come back on Monday & while I have so much to do, I can do it while I‘m up at night & stressed & instead I‘ll use the daylight hours for some joy.

I have everything ready to go to teach my students online for the rest of the semester, via Microsoft teams. Small manageable groups. Quick, regular, video check ins. We got this!!!
I‘ve got seniors, so a big part of my job now is keeping them on track to graduate in just a few weeks.

And so ends a wonderfully long winter break for this #teacherofLitsy. Instead of books with gin fizzes, it‘s back to books and leftover soup for dinner. #sigh
So it‘s only July but this #teacherofLitsy already knows what she is putting on the faculty Christmas list: a class set of these! My 8th graders were totally engrossed by Takei‘s TED talk and I think having these would be such a great supplement to the WWII unit. #middlegrade
I'm loving my reread of Red Rising. It is so gorydamn thrilling. Plus Dillon is reading Iron Gold right now, so I can talk his ear off about it all. It has been insanely hot here in Alaska (according to Alaskans).
