I made this book counter at The Corner Nook in Parker CO last night. It was so fun & I‘ve been wanting one so it was a great night out. 😊
This is my first foray into Backman‘s work and it won‘t be the last! I think Lucas is my spirit animal- or maybe Backman is. 🤔 I enjoyed the absurdity of this while appreciating the messages about bureaucracy, humanity & community. If I had a physical copy I probably would have highlighted half of it.

My mom told me about this short story after watching a "documentary" video about the movie Idiocracy. Are there any other fans of the movie on here??

I love that these short stories were published - the depth they add goes beyond plot and allows readers to dive into a writer's process creating a series and a world that has spanned his entire career.

Delicious addition to the His Dark Materials lore! Pullman winks at us as Nicole Kidman whispers. (Say what you want about the film, I didn't like it either, but the casting was impeccable!)

I'm currently reading: Antarctica by Claire Keegan, a collection of shorts, a new author for me, and I'm enjoying it so far.

Finished Reading: The Visit by by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, I didn't enjoy this as much as Zikora, another short story by Adichie. ⬇️

Another short read. This one is my favorite so far. Love Christina Lauren writing.

I love Greer Hendricks as a writer, but I think this short story idea needed more pages to be fully fleshed out. Maybe it would have worked better as a novella? It was engaging and easy to read, but the “thriller” aspect seemed to come out of nowhere, and the resolution wasn‘t really clear. The stakes didn‘t feel high enough to warrant the actions of the protagonists. I was left scratching my head on what I just read.
