This was a slow burner horror but boy, when it got going it was full of a menacing dread that won‘t let go. I‘ve always thought I‘d make a good hermit, as long as I had all my books & music but being a hermit in the arctic is another animal entirely. Especially if you have the misfortune of being left in a bay haunted by a seriously pissed off ghost! #ReadHarder2019 #AnEpistolaryNovel #Pop19 #SetInScandinavia #SomethingWickedFall

BekahB Yesssss! I love this book so much. I read this all in one night because I couldn‘t put it down. And then of course I couldn‘t sleep after finishing it. The perfect build of dread. 5y
Cathythoughts Nice review 👍🏻 really liked this one too 5y
marleed I can‘t wait to read this having just given Recursion 5*. I have it on hold at the library and my timing should be perfect for October! 5y

Lizpixie @marleed are you thinking of the Blake Crouch novel? This has the same title but is completely different, but just as good!👍 5y
marleed Oh my gosh, I was. But now I‘ve stacked this one too! Maybe I can double my Dark Matter for October! 5y
ImperfectCJ I've only known a few people who've read this one! I really enjoyed it and also Thin Air by the same author. My kids like Paver's middle-grade Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series, too. 5y
Tamra I really liked it too! 👍🏾 5y

Loved the book. At the end of the day, we all know someone who is Ove. Even if we think we don't, there is a little bit of Ove in each one of us.

Read it as part of my #popsugarchallenge#setinscandinavia

Finished this Harry Hole novel during an evening of quiet reading tonight. Definitely another gruesome novel, I‘ve heard the next in the series backs off on the gore, for which I will be thankful.

My reading companion has finally given Rick Riordan a chance, and discovered she loves the Percy Jackson books. She‘s read the first 3 just this week!

What an absolutely stonking start to my 2019 reading, with this historical fiction set in Sweden in the late 18th Century. Character, setting and writing are all so well done, and it's pace, although leisurely in some parts, kept me hòoked. My first read of 2019 and it's 5🌟 from me!
