Seemed like a good time to read these, given current events. I needed short reads for #SRP weekly goals, and suddenly all three volumes were available on my library's Libby account, where they previously weren't. Anyway, I gave 3.5 ⭐s to Volume 1, 4 ⭐s to Volume 2, and 4 ⭐s to Triple Feature. Really hope more will be published, given that Issue 10 really leaves you hanging.

Today was the last day of our library's #SRP. A summer of moments such as in this pic. One an advanced reader, the other struggles a bit. Same age, different reading levels. Both love books. Seven years old, entering 2nd grade in a month, and diverging interests. This summer was the beginning of understanding that they didn't need to both like the same things, that they still have interests in common as well as their own now. #RaisingReaders

Written by Weir before he wrote The Martian, his fame led to it being discovered and published, illustrated by Sarah Anderson (Sarah's Scribbles). It's a very clever crossover that turns three familiar female protagonists into teen superheroes. Lots of fun!

So our library opened up last week, and the summer reading program started today. Signed me and the kids up. All the programs are online. I go into the library to pick up craft materials and prizes earned. They have an app now so we can self check out items using our phones, renew items, etc. I tested it out by placing a hold on that book I wanted, only to find out they aren't processing holds at all.

SleepyDragon #SRP program today was by Ken Frawler, who sang songs and told stories with puppets. He tried his best to make it interactive, and my husband synced his phone to the tv so we could watch the FB live video all together. 4y

So it looks like my little guy might not lose his finger tip after all. The tip was pink, so blood is getting there, and if it doesn't lose color, he gets to keep it forever. We have to keep his hand bandaged like this until the stiches come out next week. In the meantime, #SRP has officially started. He and sis were "reading" these Moonlight books earlier, and I read them to them later on. They were passed down from big brother and a hit!

SleepyDragon Moonlight Ocean is the one pictured. Sis was reading Moonlight Animals, which she called "the owl book." These books are fantastic. My sister (a teacher) bought them for my oldest years ago, and he loved them as well. Each page is a picture, and you use a paper flashlight to find the hidden wildlife. It's a great concept and an awesome introduction to nonfiction science books. Probably best around 1st grade level. 6y
Texreader I sure hope little guy recovers 100 percent! 6y
SleepyDragon @Texreader Thank you. The odds have greatly improved in the last two days, so I'm hopeful he will. 6y

(Tagged the library in the town where I wish I was spending the summer.)

The kids and I are all registered to participate in the summer reading program! #SRP #library

My oldest will be tracking his reading on his own using Beanstack. We'll see how it goes. Lol I'm using Beanstack to track my own reading and the 3 yr old twins' story time. Fun times ahead!

Moony Can I only use the app when I have a library card in the states? 🤔 6y
SleepyDragon @Moony I don't know if it's a states only thing, but I think you might have to have an account with a participating library, though entering your library card number was optional. I'm not sure, honestly. I was able to just select a library and a aet up an account. 6y

Our library is using a new tracking app for patrons to register for the #SRP, and it looks kind of cool. It gives basic stats, much like Bookly, but no cute info graphic generator. Also you can track multiple readers, which could be useful with my emerging readers. Anyone else use Beanstack? I'm trying it out this summer and see if it would be worthwhile to use year round. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beanstack (also for 🍎)

Great book to pair with the #SRP program today, which was meeting animals with Saving Wildlife International. Pictured is a Capuchin Monkey that was an organ grinder monkey for tourists in San Francisco. Whoever used her for that pulled all her teeth so that she wouldn't bite people she collected money from. 😔
The book is awesome and the twins acted out how animals use their feet on each page. Probably gonna buy it for our home library.

My new golden colored #SRP cup. My husband dropped and broke my blue one a while back, and I had to wait till now to replace it. Loving Nightwoods, btw, though TPTB have been keeping me from it the last few days, since my husband's birthday often falls on Father's Day weekend. #MtTBRchallenge #Overdrive
