Today I went with my oldest to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, which was spectacular (although some pieces we wanted to see were not on exhibit & the contemporary gallery was closed). The amazing thing is that with our local library card we could get in for $10 each (we won‘t discuss how much parking was). It was a great day & got to see some pretty amazing pieces

TheBookHippie Oh how wonderful! 5mo

TheSpineView Perfect! I had two memorize the first few verses in elementary school. That brings back memories! 2y
Aimeesue So I grew up in Western Mass, and my grandparents lived in a town where one of the midnight riders resided. I grew up hearing this as "Listen my children and hear my epistle/ of the midnight ride of ISREAL BISSEL" ? 2y
dabbe @Aimeesue I think he was the rider who actually got through to warn the colonists. I don't think Paul Revere ever did! 🤣 2y
Aimeesue @dabbe So my grandfather was right! Lol 2y

Pickpick

Tales of Famous Heroes is a (B) by Peter and Connie Roop and Illustrated by Rebecca Zomchek. The Tales of Famous is about the biography of 25 heroes and their achievements. The biography is from the heroes of today and history. This book is terrific for independent reading (IR) because it allows the students to explore heroes they might know about and learn about heroes from our history. #UCFLAE3414SP21

StephanyNunez The UDL principle for the biography and source is 7.1 (Optimize individual choice and autonomy). The source beneath will provide teachers with strategies to support students' independent reading. http://www.readwritethink.org/professional-development/strategy-guidessupporting... ESOL strategy 8 (Provide biographies of significant men and women from different Countries) #UCFLAE3414SP21

Adodd1 Using these books for an IR would be great, especially if they may use this book for resources for research! The link you provided showing the different strategies to support students is very helpful as well! 4y
DrSpalding This is a picture book biography, anthology. You can dip in and dip out of this book to read about significant men and women during social studies instruction. The English learner strategy is actually 28 rather than eight. 4y

And that book a male reviewer couldn‘t believe a woman could do so well (see my last post) ?! Ironically I ordered this slip-cased edition of Forbes‘ book from ThriftBooks a couple months ago, and was pleasantly surprised at its excellent condition but for some spine fade from sunlight. Now I‘ve got to read this sooner rather than later to dispel that condescending blurb!!

STORYBOOK-CAFE Wow what a beauty of a book 💕 4y

Mehso-so

This HF book utilizes humor and assigns quirky traits for each founding father, telling their story with a twist. John Hancock is bold (his large signature on the Declaration of Independence), Paul Revere is loud (his memorable “The British are coming“), George Washington is honest (the cherry tree incident), Benjamin Franklin is clever (his inventions/wittiness), and Thomas Jefferson is independent (he loved to write about liberty). The humor

Kyleigh_J in this book could go over students' heads if they are not given the appropriate background knowledge. This book would be good for an RA. Vooks does a great job of telling this story visually. UDL 1.1 Offer ways of customizing the display of information and EL 27 Highlight written materials for readability by enlarging the size print are satisfied as Vooks enlargens/bolds the words as they are read. This helps students see what word is being read. 5y
DrSpalding Vooks are fantastic. Grate idea to include them here. Read aloud during SS instruction.... YES. (edited) 5y

Very interesting read. I never would have guessed that the poem was not so accurate about him.

#HomeschoolReads #NovemberReads My third grader is working on this one, but he should be done by the end of the week. I guess he got to show off his Paul Revere knowledge at Cub Scouts tonight. 😂 #homeschool #homeschoolmamas #sonlight

TheBookKeepers Cute! I homeschool one of my kiddos and we covered the American revolution and Paul revere last spring! There‘s some great children‘s books around that time period! 5y
