Another post Civil War story. Two women, one black, one white. They have formed a strong bond despite their skin colour. They listened to their hearts.

This is a story about faith and trusting your heart, wonderfully written.

At first I thought this was very slow going, but bear with it, it's worth it.
The slow build-up, the lies that are slowly revealed, the dark, sinister undercurrent made this a page-turner.

A book about family, family ties, and learning to be who you are.
Strong women, matriarchs, who keep the family farm running, have done so for a century. Have had to adjust to change and have come out stronger.

#NetGalleyDEChallenge #NetGalleyTBRAttack Book 5

This book is not for everyone. It might be categorised as Romance, but it is not. I'd say women's fiction fits better, since it actually thrives from the MC's obsessions. Lucy, the MC, is not a very likeable character, she's brutally honest and uses pretty vulgar language.

I'm giving it a So-So because I struggled through this story, it was just too vulgar to me.

Read the German edition.

Cinfhen I‘m getting #ShapeOfWater feels and I did NOT enjoy that one 🤷🏼‍♀️so I‘m taking a pass...thanks for your review 🧜‍♂️ 6y
erzascarletbookgasm Even the cover reminds me of Shape of Water! 😁 💦 6y
julesG @Cinfhen So I'm taking a pass on Shape of Water. Thanks! 6y

julesG @Cinfhen Just read the blurb of Shape of Water, I guess it's less vulgar than Pisces. In Pisces the lady gives detailed information of how she prepares for anal sex with a stranger. That was so TMI OTT, it was plain gross. 6y
Cinfhen Ewwww, no thanks!!! That‘s not really literature 😬 6y
EKonrad Yeah @julesG @Cinfhen I was completely grossed out the entire book! 🤢 6y
LizzieLou Do you think the merman was real? I kinda think maybe he was an hallucination? 6y
julesG @LizzieLou interesting idea. Never thought about it this way. But she doesn't take any hallucinogens, does she? 6y

Working on the #NetGalleyDEChallenge, #NetGalleyTBRAttack and #8intwo readathon.

Managed to 'skim-read' one ARC and have moved on to the tagged ARC (German edition). It's got recipes for cakes and pies and now I have a craving for home baked goods and my grandmother, who taught me how to bake.

This one was a total #coverbuy. I'm about to open it to find out whether it is as good as the blurb says.

I'm going to pair it with an ARC.

TheBookKeepers Nice!! 6y
julesG @Clwojick Looking forward to your review of the book. The beer was quite standard. A stout. Couldn't detect the flavours they mentioned 'in the blurb' (chocolate and coffee). I'm probably too common for fancy beer. 😉 6y

Sitting outside with my furry kids. It's very nice. My runny hay-fever nose is killing me though.

Was close to bail at 12% - another dystopia with techie stuff and an 'I am Legend' like disease - but it's getting interesting.

Moony They are sooo cute! 7y
julesG @Moony And they can be little devils in the morning. The usually wake me around 5 am, either by planting their behind in my face or by attacking my feet with their claws. Just so happened half an hour ago (4.43am 😞 on a bank holiday). 7y
Moony Oh yeees my lovely Mojo Rojo was awake at 6 am and have sat whining in front of the bedroom door until I stood up. Now I''ll read a little bit. 7y

Wonderful book about strong women throughout world history. With encouraging answers to the question 'What would she do?'

A middle-school book everyone, not only girls, can profit from - although some information should be taken with a grain of salt, not all tips work in everyday situations.

Picture shows Catherine the Great and what she would do if she were bullied in the WhatsApp class chat.

NetGalley Germany has a one month challenge, read and review as many books as possible.

I just signed up, because I love challenges - even if it'll be a tough one.

Anyone else joining in?
