A couple of these might be a bit more #YA than #MiddleGrade, and I‘m not sure they all have ghosts, but this seemed as good a time as any to share my October recommendation shelf.

The tagged is my favorite spooky read to recommend. For a long time the reader doesn‘t know if it‘s a ghost story or if the main character is hallucinating.

I loved the tagged book because it's perfect for kids on the older end of middle grade but not fully ready for YA. And it's set in Scotland!

Loved this book when I read it. Aven Green was born without arms but she likes to tell people an alligator ate them. Great story about perseverance.

The tagged #MiddleGradeMonday pick is one that stuck with me from when I was a kid!

The Pinballs focuses on three children in foster placements with the Masons - distrustful Charlie, sent there because her stepfather hit her so hard she got a concussion; naive Thomas J, whose aunts got too old and infirm to care for him; and Harvey, who arrives with two broken legs and a story about how it happened that keeps changing.

Probably a YA geared more to high school students, but still ... 🖤🧡🖤

This week's #middlegrademonday theme is inspired by our family's trip to the ER this weekend that ended in an appendectomy for my son! I also love the tagged book- a heartfelt story about a girl dealing with her mother's illness. I'd love to hear your recommendations!
