What a strange and lovely book. 💜
What a strange and lovely book. 💜
The premise is wild—a man turning into a shark—but this story is tender, emotional, and beautifully written. The dialogues between Wren and Lewis really stayed with me: funny, raw, and full of love. Emily Habeck blends the surreal with the human in a way that broke my heart and healed it, all at once!
Thank you so much for sending me this wonderful book @Yuki_Onna 💝
My yard has turned into an absolute JUNGLE this summer. I've never seen the ivy come up onto the porch before...oops. 😅 I'll deal with it this weekend, but it's also kind of a vibe?
I started this book this morning and it's super weird. A man starts morphing into a shark within the first few pages. I'm intrigued enough to keep going, but definitely unlike anything I've read before.
Library haul! I bought the stack on the left for $5, and borrowed the stack on the right. 😁
#WeeklyForecast 28/25
I am back home and have lots of work ahead of me so I have to temper my reading mojo! I am about to start the third book in the On the Calculation of Volume series, which has fortunately been translated in Dutch.
I also hope to read Shark Heart. Coco & Frankenstein I will combine audio and print. Audio was free and I‘ll probably spend some time driving this week.
Kindle deal enabled me to finally read this much-anticipated book. I'm sad that I didn't love it as much as I thought I would. I could never connect to Lewis and felt that we kept being told he was so wonderful but not shown. The odds of one person being affected by this mutation thing so closely seemed unlikely to me. The different narratives were also a bit disjointed to me. Still, the writing was well done and I'm not sorry I read it.
A fun little novella about a woman who suddenly turns into a fox, and how her husband manages. Author was part of the Bloomsbury Group.
Although very different in style and tone, reminded me a bit of the recent memoir Raising Hare.
Both suggest humans can learn a lot from wild animals.
Another prompt complete for #192025!
I really loved this unique story. When I first heard the topic, I thought it sounded crazy. I was wrong. This was beautifully written and I enjoyed it so much. The passages where Lewis professes his love for Wren are especially poignant. This is honestly so good!
A rare 5 star from me.@loved the book (though not lots of information) and the paintings and art that was included. A very quick read too.
