pickI‘m jumping the gun a bit on #middlegrademarch but once I started this, I couldn‘t put it down! Mia was such a great character and the author‘s note where she disclosed how much of the story was from her family‘s experiences made me cry. @megnews @sblbooks

Dear #MGBuddyRead & #YABuddyRead -ers, I need to take a break and put these buddyreads on pause, at least for the summer. I started a new job recently, my daughter is home for the summer, life has some complications right now, & I‘m having trouble settling in with books. I just announced June‘s reads but I have decided I have to back out. I also cannot seem to concentrate on this month‘s #YABuddyRead to enable discussion this weekend. If 👇🏻

I finished this last night, putting me ahead for next months buddy read. I don‘t always love big, epic, fantasy adventures in mg books, I can get bored, but I did enjoy this one. Sir Tode was a lovable character that will stay with me.

Between a pick and a so-so. The writing was great and there were interesting bits about being an artist. I love that mg books are now addressing so many diverse topics, this one includes mental illness, but the pacing for me was too slow and I got bored. I had to force myself to pick it back up. Still a worthy read if you don‘t mind the pacing.
