So Australia has this relationship with history where it treats its first nations peoples horribly. I don‘t attend public protests due to mental health stuff so my own #invasionday protest is to dedicate the day reading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander work. Here‘s this year‘s - fabulous, bone-cutting poetry interspersed with history and survival.
👋🏼 Hi to all the Aussies on here! Happy #AustraliaDay! In light of Australia's colonial history, I compiled some books by Aboriginal authors for those interested in learning more about its indigenous stories and voices. I haven't read many of them since they aren't as widely available in the US, but I am changing that this year. ✊🏽
