⭐️⭐️ Far-fetched, and at times, gruesome backstory on Lecter. Thank the gods it was shorter than Hannibal, but still not a great read. That the first two books were utterly brilliant and that the last two were so not is truly disappointing.

I don't know exactly what I was expecting when I started this book, but it definitely wasn't this.
I've read this series in publication order, so I knew Hannibal. But knowing the why behind Hannibal gives this whole series a different feel.
I'll have to go back and read it chronologically.

I have officially finished the Hannibal Lecter series! This explores Hannibal‘s origins and the atrocities he goes through in Lithuania during WWII. We finally see what made him the way he is. It‘s rough reading at times but I did find it satisfying and was oddly rooting for him on his quest for revenge for his sister Mischa‘s brutal death at the hands of a gang of despicable war criminals. I‘m excited to finally watch the show. This doesn‘t ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Seem to be as well-developed a story as the rest of the series and just skims the surface really, but it gets the job done and is a fast read. I‘d highly recommend the entire series, with books 2 and 3 being the best imo. 4⭐️ 3y
Clare-Dragonfly I really need to read this and finish the series! I‘m disappointed to find it doesn‘t continue the story from Hannibal though. 3y

JenlovesJT47 @Clare-Dragonfly I know what you mean! I need to know more about Hannibal and you-know-who. The ending of Hannibal broke my brain but the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. One can dream he‘ll write another Hannibal book someday. Have you seen the show? I‘m so excited to start it. The Hannibal movie was disappointing and I‘m wondering if the movie for this one does it justice. Let me know when you finally read it! 🤗 3y
Clare-Dragonfly I haven‘t seen the show but I‘ve seen a lot of tumblr posts about it 😅 3y
JenlovesJT47 @Clare-Dragonfly I was just skimming my old reviews and I thought I‘d mention that my husband and I sped through all 3 seasons of Hannibal and it was excellent! I‘m still wishing there were more episodes and I can‘t wait for a rewatch. It has excellent acting, is very unusual, and is visually stunning (especially the food!). You should definitely watch it when you get a chance! 🤗 3y

Um...what the everloving $u@k did I just read? I went into this one blind since I‘ve never seen the movie and I had a really hard time putting it down. This takes the disturbing aspects of the other books to a completely different level of crazy/gory. Hannibal is such an interesting character. And that ending...I did NOT see that coming. But it makes a weird kind of sense to me. You will either love or hate this book, there is no in between. 5⭐️

Samary Hannibal in all his iterations is fascinating! I love this series. Happy you enjoyed it! 3y
Erinsuereads Now I want to read it allllll 3y

JenlovesJT47 @Samary it‘s so good!! I‘m going to take a break for a few weeks before I read the last one to give my brain time to recover 😬😱😳😳🤯🤯🤯 3y
JenlovesJT47 @ErinSueMreads you should! All 3 I‘ve read so far are 5 stars reads for me. Can‘t wait to watch the movie tonight. 🤗 3y
Clare-Dragonfly Right?! I did not expect that ending. 😱 3y
JenlovesJT47 @Clare-Dragonfly right?! 🤯🤯🤯 Still trying to wrap my brain around it but it makes sense in a very weird way 🤔 3y

Wow, what a childhood Hannibal had. What makes a serial killer? What makes a cannibal? This was a great read into a look at what made the man.

JenDR I remember reading this a few years ago and liking the backstory of Dr. Lecter. I felt like I got some answers to questions I had while reading Silence of the Lambs. 4y

It's been a long time. I put down my phone for a while, social media was becoming so hectic. So of course I immersed myself in books. I decided recently to read some books I was never allowed to read when I was younger, and the first set I went with is the Hannibal Lecter books by Thomas Harris. Currently trying to read them in chronological order. I am in love with these books and it's the perfect time of year ❤
