pickI was stranded without books and started listening to this just because it was on my phone. To my surprise it was really good! I read a lot of mountaineering books, and this one was so interesting. It was written by a woman expedition leader and she focused on logistics and leadership in a way that others usually don‘t. Highly recommend (and I‘m pretty sure I got it for free on audible.)
I know that this book is a easy read for me and I could spend my time on a more challenging book. This is a amazing read it has a true story and to be honest I‘m not a nonfiction type of person I like fiction books but this book has my full attention

pickNonfiction doesn‘t get much more interesting. A group of 13 women decided to form an all-female climbing team to get to the top of Annapurna. The leader wrote this about their joys & struggles, detailing the entire process. From arguments w/Sherpas to the food they ate, each aspect of their lives on the mountain made me feel like I was right there. So much of the climbing experience is out of their control. It was a harrowing and fascinating read.

I‘m still really enjoying THE SPIRES OF TURRIS, but I haven‘t had much with-eyeballs reading time these last couple days. I‘m hoping to make up for that later this afternoon.
Scone + SF. I read maybe a third of THE SPIRES OF TURRIS a few years back, then decided I wasn‘t in the right mood for it. (I‘d just finished another stellar SF series in a totally different mode and all I really wanted was more of that.) Fast forward to last night and I‘m in exactly the right mood for it. Hurray!
pickAn excellent historical fiction book about Scott's Antarctic expedition. Each chapter is the voice of one of the five men who made it to the Pole and how they viewed the voyage. You really get to know each of these men. Even though you most likely know how it ends it is still a great read. It is a perfect length for the story being told and makes you appreciate how much harder this expedition would have been at the time.
