This is a hefty book packed with art from the various realms and eras of Dungeons & Dragons; black-and-white drawings sit side-by-side with lushly coloured paintings, and adorable Harengons balance out the creepy Mind Flayers. The only thing this book could have used was more captions explaining what the pictures were showing. (The artists all receive full credit in a credits index at the end of the book.)

111/100 This is probably my favorite fantasy trope, a misfit band of adventurers, each with their own secrets and dark pasts, who come together as a team to defeat evil sorcery. Obviously not great literature, but it's a whole lot of fun, even if you aren't into D&D. I've already got the next book in the series qued up on Audible, so let the adventures continue!! 4.5/5 ⭐ #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

This read more like a lorebook than a novel. Although this is a broad history of FR elves I wish the book focused more on certain things than others. The format and themes were clear but the execution wasn't very good. This also doesn't put the evermeet king or queen in the best light. I wish I liked it more but it just was not well executed.

Doppoetry Lots of complicated feelings about this book. 3w

There was not much of a plot here, but the consequences of the actions of the previous two books.

This installment felt very rushed, and characters didn't do much except be wounded and suffer as a result of battles, etc. I wish there was something more concise and a semblance of a plot because the narrative really lacked focus with all the chaos of the events.

At least I finished it.

Doppoetry I really didn't like how they handled Kaanyr and Zasian in the end. They had so much interesting potential as both allies and antagonists, but in the end, they were just plot devices and felt more like throwaway characters. It feels like a bit of a waste.

Aliisza sacrificing herself felt bittersweet, but I also didn't really want her to change. It's nice that she accepted her human side more, but I liked her when she was more in tune with her-

Doppoetry - succubus side. Yes, it's nice that she began to care about others, but it was done in an unsatisfying way. Instead it feeling like a natural progression, it felt more like she was manipulated into it. Having her realize that being nicer is more pragmatic would have been better imo. 3w
Doppoetry The way Aliisza had to constantly mediate between the men so they won't fight got so grating. She shouldn't be babysitting grown ass men. 3w

I believe this series takes place right after the end of WOTSQ and follows some side characters. I have surprisingly enjoyed this, it was nice to see what Kaanyr and Aliisza were up to schemes wise. The plot was a bit convoluted at times but the characters really make up for it.

At first I didn't enjoy Kaanyr's pov as much but some travel shenanigans started and it started feeling like a road trip adventure (but evil)

Doppoetry Low-key shipped Kaanyr and Zasian until his betrayal. Can't have nice things I guess 1mo

This was very similar to the first. The plot meandered and repeated itself with MC losing the McGuffin and then finding it only to lose it again, and finally having it back. This installment focused heavily on MC retrieving his FLI and his children from a pocket domain of a snake god. While the descriptions of the domain were interesting, this has little to do with why I began to read these books in the first place.

Doppoetry There were some cringeworthy revelations that I was not keen on. But overall, it was a fine series. 1mo
