Stevenson‘s work has long inspired me. when I started law school I hoped to do this work but after one internship it was too emotionally intense. Book powerfully shows systemic injustice not just in the form of wrongful convictions but in overly long sentences. So much racism and inequality this country refuses to confront. Book was both hopeful and heartbreaking and recognizes the humanity of all. #booked2018 #diversenonfiction

I really wish my library had had the audiobook since I‘ve heard such great things about it, but this was still a great read in print. Noah is a great storyteller, and I feel like I learned a lot, not just about his life, but about apartheid and South Africa as well.

I 💜 that there are books like this for my daughter! (Her LEGO set features 2 women in the book!)

Filled with daring women (not all of whom I like or agreed with, but they are/were still extraordinary and powerful in their own right...ahem Margaret Thatcher), I like the diversity, both of profession and culture. There are pirates, dancers, athletes, scientists, politicians, activists, and more!
