#HyggehourReadathon

This afternoon I listened to the tagged book while I made beef stew (Julia Child), then during “hyggehourreadathon” my family watched the movie Suncoast, which left me crying. An interview with the film‘s writer & director:

A perfect hygge evening!

I have been in bed all day- just exhaustion as far as I can tell. Slept in very late for me.Too tired to read print but I have been memorized by this audio book.Karen Pirie has always been a fabulous read/listen. With this audiobook I am going back in time with her. A wonderful companion when in bed. #serieslove2024

Last week I went to a current exhibition about the literary couple Kurt Held and Lisa Tetzner who wrote some of the most famous German children literature. I actually saw the original drawing of the cover for “Die rote Zora und ihre Bande”. It can be translated as “The red Zora and her gang” but the English title is “The Outsiders of Uskoken Castle”, which sounds very weird to me.

Dilara Oooh! I haven't read the book - or any other by the authors - but I am pretty sure I watched the TV series in the eighties. I'll have to remedy this... The illustration is stunning. 9mo
MariaW @Dilara It was the other way round for me, I‘ve read the book but never knew that there was a series. I found out in the museum. 🙈 9mo

Another great story in this series- good police procedure, against interesting Balkan background. But that ending 😢

TheSpineView Great job! 10mo

Hairdresser reading. Last time in this salon, my SIL is selling up after nearly 30 years 😞

batsy Oh gosh, that's sad. I feel like I've been to this salon just from your hairdresser reading posts over the years 💜 10mo
squirrelbrain Oh no, what will you do?! I presume she‘ll still do your hair anyway? 10mo
Cinfhen Such a momentous occasion- hopefully your SIL will make house calls!!! 10mo

TrishB @batsy 😘 I shall miss my seat! 10mo
TrishB @squirrelbrain @Cinfhen she‘s going mobile for a bit so we‘re ok for a year or so I‘d say! C wants to go with the stylist that colours her hair but doesn‘t want to offend her auntie! 10mo
Cinfhen I feel C‘s dilemma ! 10mo
Cathythoughts Oh no. Like @batsy I feel like I know this salon too. 10mo
Reggie Oh no! Sorry TrishB. 10mo
TrishB @Cinfhen always family considerations! 10mo
TrishB @Cathythoughts it‘s definitely the end of an era. 10mo
TrishB @Reggie I‘ll miss my reading space there! 10mo

760 pages of politicking and scheming in a fictional Baltic state and surrounding countries, translated from Serbo-Croatian. It is not laugh-out-loud funny, but it has its moments, and it is also very engaging. Reading it takes a bit of stamina, but it is definitely worth it.

Excited for #Round17 #LMPBC #GroupS

Let me know what sounds good to you @Jerdencon @julieclair @Reggie

I did not know Agatha Christie had written under a pseudonym so that‘s interesting.

Jerdencon They all sound good - but Agatha Christie and the last garden in Eden would be my top 2 picks 1y
Reggie I‘m good with any of them. I‘ve never read Agatha Christie before so that would be cool. But really, any book would be good. 1y
julieclair These all sound good. The Last Garden in England has been on my TBR for awhile, so that would be my first choice, but I‘m fine with any of them. 1y
Deblovestoread I‘m going with The Last Garden in England. For someone who hasn‘t read Christie before you should probably start with her mysteries instead. Looking forward to this round! @Jerdencon @Reggie @julieclair @suvata 1y
