This is an enjoyable collection from a master of the short story, but while all the stories are good, none are truly great ones that I‘ll be thinking about for years to come.
I think people who are generally not fans of short stories will like the satisfying endings to standalone stories and the five interconnected stories of Jack and Sadie that give a good picture of continuity of their relationship. 👍🏻👍🏻
Megabooks I just realized there are three other short story collections in that picture. Not that I‘m a huge fan of them or anything... Here they are in order of favorites 1. The Refugees, tied at 2. The Souvenir Museum and A House Is a Body, 4. Milk Blood Heat (not a fan of that one!) 4y
Cinfhen I‘m just here for the shelfie 🤩😍stunning!!! 4y
Ruthiella Do you keep books that didn‘t work for you? Or do you eventually pass them on? 4y

Megabooks @Cinfhen thanks friend!! 4y
Megabooks @Ruthiella it depends. Short story collections I rarely pass on even if I didn‘t enjoy them the first time because I will generally give them a second or even third read. Occasionally my mind will even change. I love having story collections around. Other books I will take to the library sale or sometimes pass on through the mail. I just did a big cull. I try to do three a year. 4y
britt_brooke I just finished this on audio, and liked it very much, but wish I‘d gone print. 4y
Megabooks @britt_brooke it‘s a good collection, but I rarely enjoy short story collections on audio. A notable exception is 4y
Homesick for Another World: Stories
britt_brooke @Megabooks I love Moshfegh! I read that one in print, but that‘s good to know! I may reread on audio. 4y
Megabooks @britt_brooke yes, we‘re both definitely in #ClubMoshfegh!! 4y
