Wrinkle in Time | Madeleine L'Engle

Pickpick

So much has been said about this book that it‘s hard to add much. I didn‘t know about this book as a kid (why?!) but I could see how it would foster a love of reading. I teared up at the end, it came together so quickly but so powerfully. I will be continuing the series!

282Mikado Your review made me think of back when I first read THE OUTSIDERS and THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW way back in the early 70's. Two books that absolutely had a large part in fostering my love of reading. Perhaps they require a reread; along with a read of A WRINKLE IN TIME. Thanks for the memories. 👍 3y
Dostoyes @282Mikado glad to hear it! 3y

I don‘t usually read multiple books at once, or not more than a couple. But starting the tagged for #SheSaid, reading HP with kiddo, The Little White Horse for #ChildrensClassicsRead2021, #SophiesWorld buddy read, Persuasion with the #PemberLittens, and The House of the Seven Gables…plus Anger Is a Gift for #YABuddyRead is coming up next weekend…whew!

So it‘s movie time with the kiddo, naturally. 😆

megnews Naturally! 😀 3y
nanuska_153 I did not appreciate the house of the seven gables while reading it, although I have to say, it left a couple of good memories. How are you liking it so far? 3y
ravenlee @nanuska_153 I‘m not very far yet (though I‘ve read this section twice now) but I like the writing. Not sure about the story yet. I have to say when I reread The Scarlet Letter as an adult I enjoyed it much more than I expected to, so I‘m trying to be optimistic for this one. 3y

Pollyanna & Pollyanna Grows Up | Eleanor H. Porter

Pickpick

This was a low pick - I did expect something a little more than “glad” forty times on every page! Still, I enjoyed it pretty well and might read the sequel eventually. I have vague memories of the movie, but I know my mom likes it.
#childrensclassicsread2021
#bookspin done for May - I actually read them both this month!

TheBookHippie 🙃 I read a little everyday that probably helps 😅 I‘ve never seen the movie! 4y
megnews I watched this movie at least twice a month growing up. 4y
TheAromaofBooks I enjoyed the original story & had mixed feelings about Pollyanna Grows Up, which is basically two books put together with a huge gap of years in the middle. I also really enjoyed Pollyanna of the Orange Blossoms, about her wedding and early years as a bride, although that one was actually written by a different author! 4y
