so-so
This was one of those rare times that the book was not better than the show (or movie). While I enjoyed this enough, it was no where near as awesome as the TV show was. 3🌟 #38of2018
Cinfhen Totally agree 7y
KathyWheeler I hated this book — probably because I could not see how they got such a good show out of this trash. 7y
eeclayton I think the show was not "based on" but rather "inspired by" the book, because the book is more a series of essays than a coherent story. That said, if you rewatch the first season now, you'll see how closely the early episodes follow the themes explored in the book, and the characters stop to talk to the audience like they're in a news report rather than a TV show. 7y

Ruthiella Yes, the first season and the book are fairly close but after that they diverge considerably. 😀 I found the book interesting in that respect but enjoyed the TV show far more! 7y
unicoon I agree. I gave several books of hers a try and liked neither. Maybe she just isn't for me. 7y
Chellebearss @Cinfhen 😃 7y
Chellebearss @KathyWheeler I didn‘t hate it but I really was expecting much more from it. 7y
Chellebearss @eeclayton yes, I could imagine the first few episodes while reading the beginning of this. Not the greatest writing but I‘m glad they managed to get an amazing show out of this 7y
Chellebearss @Ruthiella I didn‘t mind the book but after loving the show I was very exciting to read that and it was a let down for sure 7y
Chellebearss @unicoon I don‘t think I will bother with any other books. I may need to watch some episodes though 😝 7y
Swe_Eva I felt the book is very different in tone. I thought they took the tv series to a much better place. 7y
Chellebearss @Swe_Eva I agree. The TV series was very well done. Glad this book was written so that we could end up with the finale result but this wasn‘t really what I expected after watching the show first 7y
