I liked a lot of the fantasy elements used in this book, and I think the story had a lot of potential. However, the execution wasn't always great. A lot of this book felt like the author wanted to write a long, epic series but was worried his publishers wouldn't let him do that, so he tried to shove six books worth of plot and characters into one book.
