This book was published in 1945 & is the story of the Mitchell family. There are 5 Mitchell children who live with their mother & Grannie while their father & uncle are off fighting in the war. They get into all sorts of funny shenanigans with their club to help the war effort. A nice snapshot of American life during WWII. I‘m reading the sequel for #FoodAndLit - 4⭐️

My friend & I spent the day in beautiful,quaint,yet sophisticated,Guilford, CT. Backroads were flush with autumn colors🍁🍁,skies blue,sun shining.Light sweater weather.Twice a year we chose an indie bookstore(s)to visit.In Breakwater Books,lots of poetry,regional books,comprehensive fiction section,smaller non-fiction, & of course Halloween,horror themed books.Staff were friendly & knowledgeable.Lunch:turkey,lettuce on sour dough bread. #daytrip

@karisimo

A childhood favorite. My friend and I tried to write our own book (just like the two friends in Brink's book) about two friends who visit a dude ranch because, of course, we knew everything about growing up on a dude ranch and meeting some cowboys! 🤠🤠

Karisimo Love the story to go with the title!! ❣️ 1mo
dabbe @Karisimo 🧡🤎💛 I think I still have that book in my garage--in a spiral notebook with Jacyln Smith from CHARLIE\'S ANGELS on the cover! 🤩 1mo

It‘s a poke + crime fiction night. This historical mystery from KJ Charles somehow gives off the same vibes as Maureen Johnson‘s Truly Devious books, but for an adult audience and with a somewhat more recent cold case in which the friend group has a personal stake. I‘m eager to read on.

#CoverLove #Leaves @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

These leaves peek out at me over the side of the bookcase I can see from my bed reminding me that this ARC randomly arrived in the mail years ago back when I had a book blog, and I‘ve still barely glanced at it. The Litsy reviews are scant and sort of all over the place. What do you think? Has anyone read it? Will I ever read it?

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks The cover is gorgeous 💜 I‘m not a big fan of time travel but it sounds good! 4mo

A gem, but a tough one. This 1920‘s novel was a long a ghost text, unpublished until 1992, but often quoted.

An interesting work. Wonderfully playful here, deeply pained there. In the broken stream of conscious fictional H.D. is always searching and never settling, and captures her own strains of the moment. The reader must latch on deeply, go into reader trance, or put the book away. It becomes an experience, demands it of your brain.

I‘m working to get into this. It‘s a charming mess of text, a jumble of commentary, conversations, 1st and 3rd person (on the same character in adjacent lines), playful lazy classical attributions and references. It‘s a little exhausting and demanding. But she‘s quite fun. Written 1921/1926, published posthumously in 1992.
