Pick for #LetterK is a shocking memoir written with delicacy.
Pick for #LetterL is the first Alice Munro collection I read that I still think about.

It feels weird to say I inhaled this infamous memoir recounting a girl's incestuous relationship with her father -- but I did, reading it in just a few hours. It was like being under a spell. Harrison does not shy away from the horror of what happened, nor does she make it simple. I know she was castigated in the media for telling this story back in 1997. And it is still shocking in 2022, but it is also incredibly powerful.
Friday night chez nous. I started this fascinating and disturbing memoir. 😳 (The writing is spellbinding.) Meanwhile, Obie is sleeping comfortably on the beanbag. 😅
#bathandbook features this gorgeous deep purple bomb and the tagged book, which has a major ick factor.
Although let‘s be real, I may spend part of my bath continuing my binge watching sesh of Very Cavallari. Gutted to hear that Kristin and Jay split.
I got some books delivered today from Better World Books. Supposedly these were expedited, but they used a 3rd party courier and it took 3 weeks to get here.
As it stands, most of the books came in good condition. The green book on top was difficult to find, so I‘m not disappointed that it‘s not in tip top shape. The second book from the top is definitely NOT something I ordered. 😬 I‘m afraid it‘s meant to be the #NYRBbookclub selection that ⬇️
When my daughter was getting her MFA, Harrison was one of her professors and they studied this #memoir. #gratefulreads @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
A brave, shocking memoir.

#memoirmonday #arc 😘 Read this at least 3 times between the ages of 21-23. Hands down one of my favorite memoirs. Loved the writing. Should revisit highlighted sentences soon 🤔 Otherwise I‘ve only read Envy (loved!) and a wonderful collection of short stories she selected/edited for a lit mag but keep meaning to add another Kathryn Harrison to the #tbr stack.

Not the kind of #kiss you want, but it was the first book that popped into my head. #💋 #emojinov @RealLifeReading
Harrison's memoir of her father's abuse and the effect the incest had on her life #raw, but wonderfully written. #fallintobooks @RealLifeReading
This is a well-written memoir that is difficult to read, not because of the language, but because of the subject matter. To think of anyone going through what Harrison did and emerging, not unscathed for sure, but yet somehow whole, is astonishing. #litsyatoz
Because she looked in the mirror and wrote about incest with such honesty and...beauty.
"We meet at airports. We meet in cities where we've never been before. We meet where no one will recognize us."
I am a big fan of Kathryn Harrison and this memoir, about the author's sexual relationship with her father, is tough to read and incredibly powerful.
