People seem nervous about 'dissing' the classics, almost as though you're expected to love then automatically, but one of my bookish confessions is that I've never like Dickens.
Other than A Christmas Carol, I have read everything else he's written, and I've never yet fully finished a book. He's too dry and grim for my tastes.

BooknerdsLife Hahaa I used to hate Charles Dickens except Christmas Carol too but as I get older I seem to like his writing more....Still need to read his other works to be sure. Now...My turn to confess... I am not a Jane Austen fan🙈 there! I said it! ...I've tried so many times and I just can't finish her books 🙈 7y

Jamesfahyauthor @BookwormsLife I don't mind Austen. I've never understood why people seem to think you can only like Austen or Bronte. (Like they were bitter enemies) 😂 did a blog post on it recently. It's the DC vs Marvel argument all over 😁 7y
