#PoetryMatters Day 4: #Tissue
Beautiful collection about love and loss. For me, this poem on its own would have made the book worth reading, although there were many other great ones.
windows fly open in Punjabi, doors
bang in Swahili, cars go by in a rush
of German, screens flash off and on
in Russian...
I'm "over the moon" for this poetry collection, originally brought to my attention by the BBC podcast A Good Read (I think). Many of the poems hauntingly plumb aspects of grief, but it also includes playful explorations on many other topics and themes, language and multiculturalism being two of the more prominent. I even think a couple of them would be lovely poems to read at a wedding. A stunning, beautiful, and intelligent edition of verse.
