4 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
Amelia Earhart developed a love of flying at a very young age. As she followed her dream and built a name in the field of aviation-breaking numerous records along the way-she inspired other women to soar to new heights. With an introduction by astronaut pioneer Eileen Collins, "Amelia Earhart: This Broad Ocean"focuses on Amelia's triumphant crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in 1928. Panel by panel, it offers a glimpse of her relentless ambition and tireless will to promote women's rights. Above all, it leaves us with a sense of her deep-rooted desire to touch the sky.

Amelia Earhart‘s trip across the Atlantic is told from the perspective of a young girl from the town Trespassey, Newfoundland. The story itself is brief, but the notes at the end of the boom provide a plethora of detail to the people and circumstances mentioned in the narrative. The illustrations are basic, yet depict the story well. A good nonfiction intro for middle graders looking for info on Earhart.

#SoaringScores Day 22: Earhart with the #SuperFeats noted: “Women must try to do things as men have tried. When they fail, their failure must be but a challenge to others.” Fats‘ review: The comic focused “on Amelia‘s triumphant flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1928, adding the fictional story of a young, aspiring journalist named Grace Elizabeth. The graphic novel was written in Grace‘s point of view.” Her full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-aAN
