pickThis was a hidden gem of a book. If you liked The Beekeeper of Aleppo, you will like this book. It is about a family of Armenian refugees and how they are separated during WWI and how their stories effect the generations to come. Read it in one sitting. It is a very touching story. It lovely describes food and the memories smells and tastes can conjure, so be prepared with some Mediterranean cuisine.

pickA really compelling story told from multiple POV and with a non-linear timeline. The story unfolds as a granddaughter discovers her grandmother's history through a stack of letters written in Armenian. The Armenian Genocide is not an event that gets a lot of attention in the US and the author obviously did research to help this terrible period come to life. It was ultimately both sad and heartwarming.
