This looks so interesting and it's absolutely gorgeous!

Got Mighty Jack and the Goblin King yesterday and immediately read it! I love this series and so does my 9 year old. I think I actually liked this a little more than book one.
Fast paced story with good twists and lots of fun near-future technology.
Really enjoyed this one! It was sweet, funny, and honest. ❤
Overall, the writing was really funny. (If you're looking for realism or characters to sound like "real teens" a book about spontaneous combustion probably isn't a good place to start.) It reminded me a lot of the darkness of Heathers. The ending kind of fell apart, though.
"When Katelyn Ogden blew up in third period pre-calc, the janitor probably figured he'd only have to scrub guts off one whiteboard this year." #firstlines
Trouble Is A Friend Of Mine was such a fun and quirky book! I'm really glad there's going to be a sequel. 😃
I got this in the mail from Workman Publishers yesterday and my daughter immediately took it and started coloring. It is the ultimate feminist coloring book and I love the discussions we've had about the boss babes they feature inside.

A really compelling story told from multiple POV and with a non-linear timeline. The story unfolds as a granddaughter discovers her grandmother's history through a stack of letters written in Armenian. The Armenian Genocide is not an event that gets a lot of attention in the US and the author obviously did research to help this terrible period come to life. It was ultimately both sad and heartwarming.

Fantastic!!! Well researched and such an interesting and heartbreaking story about trauma and the recovery of both the victims and their families. It was also uplifting and sweet in many parts. Highly recommend!
Just got this today. It's about a guy (Hendrix) and a gal (Corinna) who take Hendrix's gpa, who is suffering from Alzheimers, out of assisted living to go on one last epic road trip. Of course, their parents & the authorities are on their heels. This sounds so good!

Just as good as book one! I wasn't sure if it would live up to An Ember in the Ashes, but it did. I am so excited for the next book!

Heartbreaking story about a teen with mental illness. I loved the way it also showed the impact that Bo's illness had on his sister and his parents.

"He was a drummer in a punk band called The Migraines - the name wasn't metaphorical..."
Really funny look at what happens when you lose the thing that defines your life. Lou, the main character, had a crazy family and a hilarious narrative voice.
My August reading list. I am particularly excited about Kids of Appetite!

Starting this today! It's set in Salem and written by a descendant of Cotton Mather.
"We are all brothers and we are all suffering the same fate. The same smoke floats over all our heads. Help one another. It is the only way to survive."
"On July 2 Congress approved [Richard Henry] Lee's resolution, then spent the next two days haggling over the precise wording of the Declaration of Independence. The final text was approved on July 4. Congress had two hundred broadsides printed up and disseminated throughout the colonies."
"Because there's no air in space, the asteroid hurtled toward Earth in absolute silence."
A book in verse that takes an honest look at abortion. We need more books like this one. The verse added to the feeling of brutal honesty and raw emotion. This was a short and powerful read.
This was super dark, and I wasn't quite expecting that. Nevertheless, I did enjoy it. The religious overtones, family secrets, and a few good plot twists made this a book you could easily conquer in one sitting.
Fantastic start to a series! Compelling characters with visually stunning art. Loved it!
A good debut. It resonated with me and my teen years in a small southern town. There were parts that were a bit over the top, perhaps, but it also made me cry. Overall, I enjoyed it.
I liked the creative idea behind the plot but I couldn't connect with the characters.
