pickThis tale of a family living in the Alaskan frontier was both fascinating and disturbing. Papa Pilgrim presented himself as a simple and religious man, trying to live in peace with his family. The true story is that he was controlling and conniving.
I'm going to give you a warning that I wish I'd been given... there is some extremely messed up sexual assault and incest. Also, child abuse. None of it is talked about in graphic detail, but still...

pickA very interesting book. Partly about how living in the Alaska wilderness looks and partly about a family that lives off the grid and is a little like a cult. I liked how it integrated it all.

I heard this author give an interview about this book and this family today. Sounds like quite a harrowing book, interesting, infuriating, fascinating, etc.

pickGah. This was so going to be “meh” for me until I stayed up until 2 this morning and then woke up at 7 to finish this book. The first half was overinflated fluff and the last half nitty gritty omg business. Not too long of a read....try it!

time for a #readathon break to amuse this little guy after three chapters of this wonderfully written, intriguing book
