Paul Antony Young, born on 17th January 1956, Luton, England, UK, is a singer, songwriter and musician. Formerly the frontman of the short-lived groups Kat Kool and the Kool Cats, Streetband and Q-Tips, he became an '80s teen idol as a solo artist. Paul rose to fame with hit singles including "Love of the Common People," "Wherever I Lay My Hat," "Come Back and Stay," "Every Time You Go Away" and "Everything Must Change," which all entered the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. Issued during 1983, his debut album No Parlez, his first of 3 UK chart-topping LPs, made him a household name, Young's smooth, soulful voice being part of the "blue-eyed soul" genre. He was named Best British Male at the Brit Awards during 1985.

The first thing that came to mind for today‘s prompt was the 1978 song Toast by Streetband, whose lead singer was Paul Young (who went on to have huge success as a solo artist in the 80s).

Cuilin I‘m old enough to have had Paul Young posters on my bedroom walls as a teenager in the 80‘s. 1mo

TheEllieMo @Cuilin at the time, he was too smooth for my tastes, I favoured Duran Duran. I went off them after a while though, I prefer Young now! 1mo
