I bailed on Playworld because i just couldn‘t get into it. Im jumping over to this one and hope to finish it this weekend because i have two more holds to pick up!
Love this author she is a amazing writer the story was amazing!
Adrienne Young is one of my “autobuy” authors, and will remain so, but I couldn‘t help but feel this one was a little pale in comparison to her other two adult titles. While the setting and overall plot were neat, I longed for a stronger lean into the folk magic undertones that made “Spells for Forgetting” so wonderful.
I have read all of Adrienne's adult books so far, and I have absolutely fallen in love with the stories, her writing, and the whimsical lyrical fantasies that she writes. This book started off very slow, I kept having to check to make sure I was correct about Johnny being her brother because it was coming off as romance to me. I wanted more from her and her love interest, I felt like their was more romance between her and her brother.
This review is a conflicted one. I hate to admit I didn't love this one. The plot was good, but I wasn't picking up what was being laid down for me as a reader. I hear the audiobook may have filled in that gap, which makes complete sense because I think this book would be fantastic on screen. It is still a pick vs so-so.
