When Jane and Mr. Rochester are unexpected witnesses to a man violently attacking his own wife, Jane resolves to deliver this young woman from her ill-fated marriage. But there are strange things abroad on the open moor. Soon a man is dead from a seemingly diabolical cause. The village suspects something even stranger: the haunting presence of the Gytrash.
