pickAnna is divorced and has absolutely no desire to date until she suddenly needs to write a dating column in order to keep her job. When a basic foray back into dating is not fresh enough for the new big boss she agrees to let her kids pick her next few dates and to have her column go head to head with her work nemesis‘s dating column. I had a lot of fun with this story as Anna starts to trust herself and the world again and loved the Bath setting.
pickThis was my #jolabokaflod gift from @LeslieO and I finally got to finish it. I started it on Christmas Eve but didn‘t get far, but when I restarted it in February I finished quickly. I ended up loving Anna and Will plus the premise of the book made it fun getting where the author was leading. I‘ve enjoyed all the Sophie Cousens books I‘ve read so far. She‘s become a real favorite.
I know there are plenty of women on Instagram who got divorced and took up running or weight lifting or started their own aromatherapy candle businesses. They look and feel better than ever, phoenixes risen from the ashes, embracing their “new chapter.” I am a dazed pigeon, looking for crumbs. But I am fine with that; being a phoenix looks exhausting.

pickAnna Appleby is 38, recently divorced, and told she needs to write a more relevant column for the magazine where she works. She's competing for column space with her work enemy Will. So she decides to write about dating, but doesn't like dating apps. Instead she lets her kids pick her dates, which include the neighbor, the dad of one of the their friends at school, the delivery man, a theater actor, and their swim coach.

pickThis was a light, easy, somewhat flawed read. It was obvious from the get-go who was going to be the HEA for Anna so that had me lightly reading her dates concocted by her kids. The reader was also privy to Anna‘s inner voice which seemed a bit redundant for the outcome we already knew was going to happen.
pickIt was refreshing to have the protagonist of a romance novel be a late 30s divorcee with two kids, a career, and a younger love interest. Anna was incredibly real and relatable being both the mature adult and ocasional hot mess that we all are. This ended up being my favorite type of romance with the perfect blend of humor, depth, and a little bit of enemies-to-lovers.
