The gifts of the body by Rebecca Brown
This story is about a health care worker who cares for the end of life individuals with aids, it tore my heart out but such a great read.

This one was easy to narrow down. One of the most moving books I‘ve ever read.
An unnamed woman who is an end of life carer, visits someone dying of AIDS in each chapter, each chapter named for a part of the body, reflected in the story.
The compassion, empathy, dignity, kindness and humanity in this book was just astounding. I feel so strongly about end of life care, and this book was perfect.

Inspired by @vivastory & @BarbaraBB Here is the first of my ten favorites of the year so far….
This one touched me so much. Its simple, moving prose captures the essence of humanity perfectly. Its short chapters, focus on the visits a young nameless home care aide makes to her ‘clients‘, who are dying of AIDS. It spoke so much of dignity, kindness and empathy. Just so moving and beautiful. 💕
Thanks for the tag @Cinfhen 💕
1. Working on Sunday, but I have Saturday off, so a lovely long bike ride with hubby, and probably our favorite grilled oysters on the patio with some bubbly 🥂
I‘ll be treating all my lovely booksellers to some chocolate cupcakes on Sunday... 💕
2. I try and see the best in everyone.
3. Tagged. So moving and has really stuck with me. Also loved A Thousand Ships.

I‘m going to use this for #pop21 #asubjectyouarepassionateabout as dignified, compassionate end of life care, is something I feel so strongly about. It‘s something we often get so wrong.⬇️
Two sentence review: This novella is from the point of view of an AIDS home care worker at the height of the crisis. Some 20 years later, it still made me cry.
