A tale of human endurance, madness, fervent self-observation and redemption, with a Whitman-congruent dichotomy plucking at the prose, comes an MLM romance set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop, switching between present tense and hallucinatory insanity that the past is the future with a kind of staccato, frantic ease, blurring the edges between reality and unreality. Mind-bendingly cinematic, and without doubt, Klune's greatest work to date.

eskoch28 Phew what a cover! 7mo
TheIntrovertedDodoBird @eskoch28 Amazing, isn't it? I was so drawn to the cover when I first saw it and just had to read it! 7mo
eskoch28 Yes so striking. There aren't enough of these deeper hard book covers out there right now. 7mo

TheIntrovertedDodoBird @eskoch28 Yessss! Poignant covers draw me in so much more, especially if they make me curious like this one. The first book, Withered and Sere, has a resonating cover, too. 7mo
emmasm08 @TheIntrovertedDodoBird you‘ve sold this to me ! 6mo
TheIntrovertedDodoBird @emmasm08 Oh, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did (this was my third reread. It's that good!). 6mo

Pockets of beauty are scattered across this desolate, irradiated world, spotted only when the bees of insanity, the hive in Cavalo's head, part their stingers at night, while the blade of a clever cannibal presses against his ribs. The monster scrapes a kiss against Cavalo's neck and maybe, just maybe, this twisted, beautiful cannibal will be his redemption. That is, if they don't murder each other first while in the grips of insanity.
Exquisite
