Even though she is excited to be representing the whole school at the district spelling bee, Jessica is worried that a defeat could confirm everyone's suspicions--that her twin sister Elizabeth is the smarter Wakefield girl.

To everyone‘s surprise, Jessica wins the 2nd grade spelling bee at school & gets to compete in the district spelling bee. She feels she is not smart enough & apparently everyone agrees because the whole class tries to convince her to do a twin switch on the big day & let Liz go in her place. But she surprises everyone & herself most of all when she does it all on her own. 4⭐️

The second grade spelling bee lies at the center of this one, and no one is more surprised than Jessica herself when she wins it. But the regional bee (including a first glimpse of rivals, Big Mesa) has her worried that she‘s not smart enough to win again. Luckily, she overcomes her doubt (and those of her classmates who want them to pull a switch!). I love when Jessica breaks out of her own stereotype of being the “dumb” twin!

JenlovesJT47 Yes, my thoughts exactly! I actually felt bad for her here with the whole class telling her to do a twin switch. I like it when she does well without being sneaky. I love the SVH book where she outscores everyone on the SAT‘s including Liz, then they accuse her of cheating 1mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 Yeah— and the same thing happens to her again in SVT with 1mo
JenlovesJT47 I think I read that one once a very long time ago 👵🏻 1mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 🤣 I am sure you will get to it in your own re-reading project! It wasn‘t one of the more memorable ones, but still fun! 1mo
