The fourth instalment in Ashley Weaver's delightful series, Locked in Pursuit follows safecracker Electra McDonnell fighting Nazis at every turn as World War II looms over London. Safecracker Ellie McDonnell hasnt seen Major Ramseyher handsome but aloof handler in the British governmentsince their tumultuous mission together three months before, but when she hears about a suspicious robbery in London she feels compelled to contact him. Together they discover that a rash of burglaries in the city all lead back to a hotbed of spies in the neutral city Lisbon, Portugal, and an unknown object brought to London by a mysterious courier. As the thieves become more desperate and their crimes escalate, it becomes imperative that Ellie and Ramsey must beat them at their own game. Fighting shadowy assailants, enemy agents, and the mutual attraction theyve agreed not to acknowledge, Ellie and Ramsey work together to learn if it truly takes a thief to catch a thief.

My only 5⭐️ book in April ‘24 was the tagged historical mystery, an entry in a series that I love but which is coming to an end with the next book. Say it ain‘t so! 😩😩

The other 3 books were close runners-up with the Marsons book being the start of the 2024 “Kim Stone Spree” for me. 😂😂

The 4th book in the Electra McDonnell series (#serieslove2024), and it was a doozy. The usual escapades ensue and meet a little more or the McDonnell clan‘s underworld associates, but it the evolution of the Major and Ellie‘s relationship that made the book hum. It was joyous, hopeful and heartbreaking. Looking forward to the next.

I‘m loving this series! Set during WW2, this 4th outing finds Ellie called on to aid Major Ramsey with a series of robberies that may be connected to a bigger German threat. She‘s also decided to investigate shocking allegations that her father may have been a spy. There are also developments on the personal side between Ellie and Ramsey (good and bad) which led to some frustration for me with some choices Ellie made. Great characters, great 🔻
