Instruments of Darkness: A Thriller
Instruments of Darkness: A Thriller | John Connolly
2 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
From the international and instant New York Times bestselling author John Connolly, the beloved and brilliant Charlie Parker series returns with a heart-wrenching crime only one man can solve. In Maine, Colleen Clark stands accused of the worst crime a mother can commit: the abduction and possible murder of her child. Everyone--ambitious politicians in an election season, hardened police, ordinary folk--has an opinion on the case, and most believe she is guilty. But most is not all. Defending Colleen is the lawyer Moxie Castin, and working alongside him is the private investigator Charlie Parker, who senses the tale has another twist, one involving a husband too eager to accept his wife's guilt, a group of fascists arming for war, a disgraced psychic seeking redemption, and an old, twisted house deep in the Maine woods, a house that should never have been built. A house, and what dwells beneath.

Loved it ❤️ one of my fave series. Combining thriller and horror themes and generally set in creepy old Maine. Full of characters that you‘ve come to love over the last 20 books.

FlowerFairy I‘m only five books into this series but I love it! 7mo
Caroline2 I still need to read number two! I remember really liking book one, think we read it for our old crime book club….. oh can‘t remember what it was called now? Do you remember? We used to post the books to each other. WHODUNNIT! That was it! 😂 7mo
Addison_Reads I can't wait to read this one. 7mo

Oh, I just love this series! It‘s hard to believe this is the 21st book in the Charlie Parker series— this one harkens back to some of the earlier books in the series in a lot of ways— evil lurking in remote corners of Maine, a single case with threads with a further reach than at first visible. Fast-paced and thrilling, series regulars all appear here and the worst part, is that this starts the long wait for Connolly‘s next book all over again!
