Bon Appetit! the Delicious Life of Julia Child
Bon Appetit! the Delicious Life of Julia Child | Jessie Hartland
3 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
In a starred review, "Publishers Weekly" raves, "Chef and TV personality Julia Child likely would have delighted in and hooted over this wide-ranging picture-book biography.... Readers young and old will devour this "fete pour les yeux."" Follow Julia Child chef, author, and television personality from her childhood in Pasadena, California, to her life as a spy in WWII, to the cooking classes she took in Paris, to the publication of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking, " to the funny moments of being a chef on TV. This is a comprehensive and enchanting picture book biography, told in many panels and jam-packed with lively, humorous, and child-friendly details. Young chefs and Julia Child fans will exclaim, "ooooh la la," about this book, which is as energetic and eccentric as the chef herself."

This B book is about Julia Child who was a cook, author, and she had her own t.v show. In the story we learn about her life and what caused her to have an interest in cooking. It also talks about all the places she was able to travel to and how it played a role in her cooking. This book won the Amelia Bloomer Book List.

LizzettM The UDL principle (6.1) guide appropriate goal setting which students can navigate her plan throughout the story. EL strategy 23, would be useful through this LC reading since the structure of it and the vocabulary may be difficult to some students.

DrSpalding What a cool book. This could be a good resource for a literature circle during a social studies unit about significant individuals. Show the students a video of her cooking! Unforgettable. 5y

#OctoberPutASpellOnYou Day 18: A picturebook biography of Julia Child won‘t be complete without an #Oven naturally. As Fats noted in her review: “It chronicles the life of America‘s beloved cook, from the time she threw mud pies at cars to the time she gave cooking demos on TV. She believed that people who love to eat are always the best people. It was her passion for eating that pushed Julia past her limits.” Her review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-7sy

A gift from a friend who knew my son was really into cooking. Lots of script. Would be difficult for a child to read on their own, but my son loves having it read to him. You can easily pick how much to read on a page.
