pickI enjoyed this and the grounding in details of the wool industry quite a bit ultimately, but waiting for the payoff had me anxious, especially given the relationship between them also gets so amped up and explosive.

You know, sometimes I wish it was normal to just have full plot summaries for every book out there on the internet for easy lookup. Right now I'm being too neurodivergent to read more of this book without knowing how things work out, but I keep reading a chapter at a time because I do *want* to finish it.
I'm not really sure why this isn't 100% clicking for me? I'd expected to adore it, but I'm much more inclined to pick up Paladin's Faith (which I'm reading at the same time). Hmm.
pickAs Matti struggles to save his family‘s prospects, he is thrown unexpectedly into the path of a dashing con artist who begrudgingly becomes his sword instructor. Watching Matti and Luca fight their growing feelings as they chart a crash course for their own secrets and those of other characters is a treat. I enjoyed the character development in this book quite a bit. It is a slower paced book because it deals with business espionage. #LGBTQIA

I saw so many reviews describe this book as hard to get into or having so much info dumping about the subject matter and the time period, but I did not experience any of that!
I was drawn in right from the start, and I enjoyed the whole thing. I really liked the two main characters plus all the side characters that are pulled into Matti & Luca‘s story, and I think this could be my favorite book by Marske so far.

A really lovely historical romantasy. Matti‘s dedication to his family broke my heart, & I loved the development both in him & in the love story. It is very slow, & I think The Last Binding series is stronger narratively, but the tension is good & paced well.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Ahhhh, friends, I‘m having SUCH a good time with SWORDCROSSED! Freya Marske gives off the best vibes. I almost don‘t even care what‘s happening as long as I get to bask in her books‘ overall feel.
Most of my current 30ish library checkouts... Yeah that's probably about right for my reading ratio these days, my stuff to kids books. #raisingreaders
I finished Capture the Sun (loved it) and wasn't sure what to start next. Then my library hold on this highly anticipated one came in! Gotta love timing. I'm two chapters in and so far it's great.
pickI found the beginning of this book a bit too focused on the minutiate of guild functioning and the wool industry in a way I was having trouble getting invested in. But once the relationship between Matti and Luca started to develop that's when things really got interesting. I didn't love this as much as The Last Binding trilogy, but it was still a solid 4 star read.
