Pickpick

I read this book from a series out of order, so my review is probably tainted by not knowing the backstory. A witch, who owns a tea shop in a small town (a completely original setup right there), solves the town‘s mysteries. In this one the festival‘s prized giant pumpkin disappears. Quite a good little story about finding the pumpkin. But…the familiar, a cat, is irritating as heck. I don‘t want to read anymore just for that reason alone. ⬇️

Texreader But what takes it over the top is that the town is full of supernatural creatures, but no one knows? For example, the cemetery groundsman is the grim reaper?? And no one knows that Ted is actually a golem made of wax? This makes for complex explanations without good reason. Why not write it for a world where everyone knows these beings exist? It was confounding #scarathlon #batbrigade @Catsandbooks 1y

TheQuietQuill I have jury duty coming up in November! It‘s my first time, and I hope there‘s lots of time to read in between haha! 1y
Texreader @TheQuietQuill For us we just waited around all day to be called. I got in the lucky 10% not to get called. Once you‘re in the courtroom you can‘t be reading anymore (prior experience when I did serve on a jury). So hopefully you have a similar experience. But it‘s all good. I was happy to have served on a jury. It was just a few hours and I learned a lot. Of course I was a trial attorney back then so it was helpful to see how a jury functioned. 1y
TheQuietQuill Thanks for letting me know! I‘ll be sure to bring some books for backup 1y
