Perfect for fans of Kate Carlisle and Diane Kelly, after her ex-husband tears down their marriage, the last thing Jaime wants is to renovate a worn-down historic home. But when a body is discovered behind a wallshe realizes shell have to catch the killer before she builds herself up again. Jaime and Henry were the perfect couple with the perfect life; together, they ran one of the most successful construction and interior design companies in all of Charlotte, North Carolina. But when Jaime catches her charismatic husband in an affair, she realizes her husband is not the man she thought she married. The divorce is equally guttingdue to an ironclad prenuptial agreement, Jaime receives only one thing: a historical house in disrepair. Knowing that any renovation she attempts will be tedious and costly, Jaime starts to believe that things cant get much worseuntil she finds a dead body in the house. The body is found behind a recently renovated walland this leaves Jaime with more questions than answers. Who killed this person and why? Could it have been the previous owners, someone who snuck in while nobody was looking, or could it have been Henry? Furious that the house is now a crime scene, which further delays all renovations, Jaime decides to investigate the murder herself, DIY-style. Together with the new resident cat she calls Demo, and the handsome and friendly hardware store owner who happens to be her neighbor, Jaime is ready to use all the tools in her toolbox to catch the killer. Jaime needs to renovate this house if she wants to move forward with her life, but will this murder investigation leave her in ruinsor worse?

I know this is kind of late but I‘m reading this one still. I started it for #20in4 but I didn‘t finish it. I only read it for 2.5hrs.

dabbe Reading should never really be on a deadline, right? 🤩🤣😍 11mo
Q84 @dabbe I guess. I have deadlines for everything but lately haven‘t been meeting them. Some of them are because of library loan due dates and others like this one are ARCs and I like to get them reviewed before launch date but I am definitely behind. Now I feel I need to catch up. It‘s a never ending battle. (edited) 11mo

Q84 @TheAromaofBooks I know I need to. That‘s probably one of the reasons I haven‘t been reading much. Like I‘m avoiding my TBR thats ever growing. I think it‘s started to be a chore. I am thinking about deleting my TBRs online and just sticking to a list of 20 at a time. Maybe that will help me. I also use to many sites for reading these days. I still enjoy it but now it‘s gotten to be more of a TO-DO. It‘s sad really. I have to work on that. 11mo
Q84 I was looking at my GR list and there are over 10,000 books. I will never read all of those and many are probably not of interest to me anymore. I tried to mass delete them but it wouldn‘t let me. 🫨 11mo
TheAromaofBooks For me personally, I stopped doing review copies a few years ago, and that really took pressure off of me. 10,000 books is quite a lot!!! Mine has never been that high, but it was almost 2000 a few years ago and I did a big purge. A friend of mine went through her list and just deleted any book that had lower than a 3.8* rating. I like having a TBR because I love having a pile of books (metaphorically) that I thought sounded interesting to choose⬇ 11mo
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) from whenever I am ready for my next read. I like to check out 10-15 from the library each month and if I don't get to them, I do kinda of flip through them and decide if they should stay on the TBR or not. 11mo
Q84 @TheAromaofBooks I don't struggle with feeling the need to read library books usually. I typically donthe same. Maybe I should follow suit and stop doing review sites. I also need to pair down my TBR, but I think a total purge is the only way. I also have a set of books I know I want to read when I think about it or see them, so that may be what I start fresh with. Thanks for sharing with me. I think it will be helpful in figuring out a solution. 11mo

Super fast read! I really enjoyed the speed of this story and the characters so far, but I wish that we got more character development for a lot of the other side characters ; currently this feels a bit novella-ish. Hoping that as she writes more in the series, we‘ll get to learn more and even meet some of the characters that were only name dropped.
