PurpleyPumpkin Thanks for posting the link! The only one I‘d come across, and only recently, was Real Ones by Katherena Vermette. But they all sound Intriguing. 📚 2mo
JacqMac @PurpleyPumpkin Right? Usually there is one or two that sound good to me, but this is a good year. 2mo

It's Giller day! Intriguing Longlist. I did NOT like Study for Obedience, which is also up for the Booker - I guess I missed something that these judging panels are seeing in it!

I did, however, love Birnam Wood and Girlfriend on Mars, so it's lovely to see them nominated. And CS Richardson is always one of my faves.

Off to place some holds! https://www.cbc.ca/books/12-canadian-books-make-longlist-for-100k-scotiabank-gil...

Ruthiella I thought the authors had to be Canadian? How is NZ author Eleanor Catton on the list? 🤔 Ah, I see she was born in Canada. (edited) 1y
TheKidUpstairs @Ruthiella she was born in Canada, and I think she's a dual citizen. Canadians like to grab any connection to claim talented people as our own! 1y
squirrelbrain I haven‘t heard of many of these, other than Study for Obedience which, like you, I didn‘t like. Birnam Wood is one of my favourites of the year. 1y
BarbaraBB Interesting! I feel the same about Birnam Wood and Study for Obedience 1y
TheKidUpstairs @squirrelbrain a number of them are from very small indie publishers, which is always nice to see. I hadn't heard of many of them either, I'm excited to check them out! 1y
