The underlying themes in comparing everyday toxic human behaviors in the magical world were on point. I like the mirrored approach to real life in this genre. The characters were better formed, or maybe Rebekah annoyed me less than Emerson did. Though the protagonists goals, needs, and "misbeliefs" were repeated too much for my liking. I prefer the more subtle approach.

Definitely liked this one more than the first book. Even though I wasn‘t in Emmy‘s head, she still kind of annoyed me. I really liked Rebekah and Nick. The story was interesting as well. I like all the friends and their coven, so I‘m hoping to continue this series.

After her unwilling return to St. Cyprian, Rebekah Wilde is forced to face the Joywood, the ruling coven who had banished her ten years earlier.
Rebekah and her sister are forced to redo the magical training and testing they had supposedly failed in high school. Rebekah turns to the only witch in town who can help her, the immortal Nicholas Frost, the same man who turned away from her a decade earlier.

I got into this second book in the Witchlore Series much quicker than I did the first.

This book is about banished witch Rebekah Wilde, who is back in St Cyprian and has something to prove.

Her relationship with immortal witch, Nicholas Frost, is the ultimate age gap romance 😄

This was a fun, witchy read for the season.

I‘m giving this a low pick. While there were still things that annoyed me, I liked this a lot better than the first book in the series. This follows a character we met only briefly in book 1 and I enjoyed her much more than any of the original central characters. The author has set this up so the series could continue, but this one doesn‘t end on a cliffhanger, so I don‘t feel compelled to keep reading. #scarathlon #skeletoncrew #witchathon

AnnR That's disappointing but it does have a cute cover. 🙂🎃 13mo

Pleased to report I really loved our #skeletoncrew buddy read (well, I did pick it lol). I‘m always confused when this series gets marketed as romance when I feel like it‘s a strong, original, fun fantasy series with noticeable romance sub plots. Yes I love the romance but this is so much more, I want to move to this town and I‘m so invested in what‘s going to happen with the covens!

Getting to know the #skeletoncrew for #Scarathlon2023! @Emilymdxn

1. My perfect Halloween looks like having the BEST sweets for the little kids arriving at my door, a Halloween film/book, candles, and spooky decorations

2. Not a big scary movie watcher but I like Coraline?

3. Fave genre to read for Halloween - hmmm, unsure but I'm keen to give some more folk horror a go!

4. I love and am looking forward to everything about Scarathlon!!

Emilymdxn Folk horror and candles is the best possible way to spend an evening 🎃 14mo

A peek at my tbr stack for #scarathlon this year. I‘m going for a healthy mix of spooky classics, new horror, cosy mysteries, witchy romance etc. I just love all spooky genres so much!

I‘m going to be reading the tagged book for our #skeletoncrew buddy read - so excited as I loved the first book in the series. I‘d love to see all your tbrs if you‘d like to tag me and use the #skeletoncrew hashtag my pals!

This is a local author for me and the little town this series takes place in is based on St Charles MO. This is a sweet romance and a whole lot of fun to read. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommend this one. #LittensLoveRomance
