I relatively recently remembered I liked Linwood Barclay but this is probably not one of his best. Pacing and characters were great but the mystery and storytelling felt convoluted and it all sort of just happened in the last quarter or so. Low pick

Took ages to get going and I was totally confused the first 25% but that may have just been my tired brain!
An ok thriller.
I always enjoy Barclay‘s thrillers! In this one though some things just happened right at the right moment or seemed coincidental & I usually don‘t get those vibes from his books. I predicted a couple of twists and was surprised some POVs were thrown in just to throw the reader off track & it didn‘t really go anywhere. That said, this was a fun ride & the twists are enjoyable as they come along. Curious what other fans of Barclay‘s books think!
I love a good thriller and Linwood Barclay is a great thriller writer. This is not good. In fact it‘s downright rubbish. I‘m disappointed in a writer who‘s usually one of the go to reliable writers of this genre.
Barclay's books are always a thrilling read. I do love them so much. They're a slow burn but it draws you in until you just have to know more. The plot is told through multiple characters, allowing for more depth and understanding of each character. There is a lot going on so takes some following initially but it soon falls into place. The ending was very good. Not quite how I wanted it to end but for the book it was perfect. #Netgalley 4*
Wow is all I can say. This book is brilliant. I was pulled into the story on page one. The characters are so detailed and as you read the author gives you the connection with another character and it all makes a little more sense. This book gives and gives till the closing chapter. Loved it
I‘m so glad I discovered Barclay a couple years ago. He writes intriguing, absorbing mystery/thrillers that typically manage to keep me guessing, as this one did. Here, Jack is a struggling novelist whose latest book isn‘t selling. Then he gets an unusual writing job offer that pays well, so he takes it and things unfold from there. Lots of fun!
