Tea room owner and reluctant amateur sleuth Laney Powers decides to enjoy some of the natural beauty of Vermont and travels to a popular nearby hiking spot. She runs into the mayor of Iberden, Raymond Andrews, who decides to join her on the hike, which turns into a murder investigation when they make a gruesome discovery on the trail.
