Melbourne‘s changeable weather often attracts comment, usually fairly cliched. I enjoyed this original (and pretty accurate in my experience) take on it.

This kept me awake on the late night drive up to Mansfield to collect Polly, when I was dubious whether Bleak House would do the trick.
Again, it was not bad. I just found its messages about social media and the internet and the impact they have on our relationships a bit laboured. Those messages are, unfortunately, probably all too true. I do consider myself lucky to have escaped dating in the age of social media.
As the blurb promised, Search History is “a sharply funny debut novel about identity, obsession, and desire in the internet age”. But, unlike most books about relationships in tHe DiGiTaL eRa, this one actually rings true – in the way the characters think and behave, and the way their use of technology shapes their perceptions.
